Red Clay Field

I came across this from Yahoo Taiwan. Please take a look.

It's amazing, and I can't detect any digital manipulation. Yet it seems someone has designed this scene for show much like those grandiose Chinese movie scenes. Can an ordinary routine farming turn out such spectacles unintentionally by the farmers? If it was orchestrated, then what was the the purpose other than the obvious?

I have never been in 雲南東川. But I heard it sometime ago. The pictures we saw in this link are real. The red earth is rare but I I have seen one in Arizona. Usually the place may have abundant deposit of copper ore. But the read color is due to the iron rich in the soil. The valley near 東川 is caused by the mud slide. The base of the earth is red (赭紅). If you divide the field into several parcels & plant different corps, then you get different patterns of color. Here you have blue sky (due to high in altitude), red earth, yellow & white 油菜花, green vegetable, what more can you ask? Blue, red, yellow & green, you have all the primary colors & lights.

I have seen field after field of yellow 油菜花 in California. Near Lompac, I have seen field of wild flowers, red, yellow & white under the bule sky & golden sun. But I have never seen the whole combination (with red earth) like 東川 in this link. It is really an intoxicated beauty.

東川 is a remote area. The people (minority) there are poor & the place lacks of hotels. This may explain why it is not a popular tourist spot.

In my previous comment, Lompac should be Lompoc. The best time to visit is between May & June. Here you will see all the nice colors except the Red Earth. I can't resist but utter the following for Lompoc:
藍天馬尾雲, 綠野雞冠花.

For 雲南東川, the following is more appropriate:
藍天羊毛雲, 赤野油菜花.
